From the mountains of Eastern Kentucky, The Kevin Prater Band delivers unique "Coal-Fired Pure Kentucky Bluegrass,” and are frequently recognized and celebrated for stellar harmonies and a cappella singing.
2025 finds Kevin Prater celebrating his 45th anniversary in bluegrass. His vocal and musical talents have impressed fans world-wide.
Born in Virginia and currently residing in Kentucky, Prater's love of music began at age four. He quickly mastered guitar, mandolin, bass, and banjo and was a professional, traveling musician by age seven. Later, Prater spent a few years at Dollywood, signed on with The James King Band (including an Alberta visit) for a dozen years prior to working with Melvin Goins, Mark Phillips & III Generation, and The Bluegrass Brothers and eventually stepping out as bandleader.
Currently in his 16th year leading The Kevin Prater Band, Prater has experienced consistent growth of his fan-base and the Blueberry audiences is sure to appreciate the band’s lively interpretation of bluegrass.
