John McEuen

and the Circle Band

Blueberry Music Festival - John McEuen

Put simply, John McEuen is an Americana roots legend. In 1971 and as a seminal member of the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, McEuen joined with country music and bluegrass legends to record the sessions that would become the triple-album Will the Circle Be Unbroken, altering the course of roots, country, and bluegrass music.

A member of NGDB for almost 40 years, McEuen last played Blueberry in 1997. A multi-instrumentalist, McEuen is best known for his banjo playing and has recorded numerous solo albums in addition to many chart-toppers with the NGDB. He has been awarded IBMA Awards, played on gold, platinum, and Grammy Award-winning albums, and has written two books with his most recent recordings as dramatic and textured as those made fifty and more years ago.

A true ‘string wizard,’ John McEuen & the Circle Band will not only warm the Blueberry stage with familiar songs from an incredible catalogue, but will infuse their performance with fresh music and approaches. We are excited that they will do a set devoted to the history and making of the Circle album.
