Crying Uncle
Bluegrass Band

Blueberry Music Festival - Crying Uncle Bluegrass Band

When David Grisman was inducted into the Bluegrass Hall of Fame last year, Crying Uncle Bluegrass Band were asked to honour him by playing his ‘Dawg grass’ during the ceremony. Their renditions of “Opus 57” and “E.M.D.” certainly hit the mark.

At the same IBMA Awards week in 2023, Crying Uncle Bluegrass Band was named the organization’s Momentum Award as Band of the Year. Comprised of relatively young musicians, Crying Uncle is definitely on the upswing, a band that we will be hearing from for years.

Growing up within the fertile California bluegrass environment, the quartet has impressed industry vets and audiences with their lively, animated, and fiery presentation heavily influenced by Grisman. Invigorating originals Including instrumentals which take us on unexpected journeys and expressive interpretations of country and bluegrass classics are what will make Crying Uncle Bluegrass Band a favourite at Blueberry ’24.

Crying Uncle Bluegrass Band is: Teo Quale (mandolin/guitar), Miles Quale (fiddle), Andrew Osborn (bass), and Ian Ly (guitar).
